Do you know if titanium bands can be re-sized? I've read a little bit about titanium bands being made of a single piece of hollowed out metal, and I got the impression that they couldn't be. This would worry me because both my grandmother and my mom had to have rings re-sized when they got older (the skin on knuckles gets looser.) I wonder what women do when their rings won't fit during pregnancy. Just wait until they have the baby to wear them again? The low price of titanium is a big plus, and I also like the different ... Do you know if titanium bands can be re-sized? I've read a little bit about
titanium bands being made of a single piece of hollowed out metal, and I got
the impression that they couldn't be. This would worry me because both my
grandmother and my mom had to have rings re-sized when they got older (the
skin on knuckles gets looser.) I wonder what women do when their rings won't

Somewhere (I believe in this newsgroup) I heard about the option of titanium wedding rings, and when I mentioned it to my fiance, he went bananas. It seems unlikely that I could get much in the way of an engagement ring in titanium, and I prefer yellow gold over white metals. So we're currently thinking that we'd get matching wedding rings, but mine in gold and his in titanium. Anyone out there with titanium rings? Good or bad? Know jewlers who work with titanium? ... I would like to learn how to make Titanium rings, but I have yet to speak with anyone who has done this often. I understand you need a metal lathe in order to make the rings, but I have a few questions. What is a good metal lathe to use? Any power requirements, etc. that I need to be sure of before purchasing a lathe? Out of a piece of bar stock can you create many different rings of different sizes or can you just get out many different rings of the same size? I suppose I really don't know how to use a lathe and any help in this area would be appreciated. ... (more)
