Has anyone ever had a bad reaction to using Biotene as mouthwash for tongue piercing? For my first tongue pierce I used diluted Listerine, which was fine until the 2 week point, when my tongue suddenly got white and icky. Now with my repierce (same tongue, different location) I've been using Biotene, and after 6 days the swelling has mostly subsided but the pain is terrible; much worse than the first time. First the outer edge of my tongue got really sore, like a million tiny canker sores, and now the top ball has made the typical crater but the "edges" are really red and inflamed and seem to be pulling away ... I have used titanium jewelry for more than a few clients who cannot heal piercings with steel or gold alloys. unpolished >titanium wire around a mandril, cutting it off with a pair of wire-cutters As do some steel and niobium and gold jewelry manufacturers. I was thinking about buying some coloured niobium or titanium jewellery to wear in my lip and septum piercings, but I am a bit hesitant as the last lot (dark blue niobium) discoloured really quickly. so, does anyone know if titanium is less prone to discolouration than niobium, or if using different (lighter?) colours will make a difference? Or is it because the last lot of jewellery was of low quality? ... (more) |

This is a 'physics of everyday life' sort of question. I put it to sci.engr.color, but no-one there offered any ideas. Do you know the style of metal jewellery they call 'titanium" - metal jewellery with bright iridescent colours. The colours seem too bright to be due to pigments - unless perhaps there is some internal reflection and backlighting in the colour layer. I've always assumed the colours were due to optical interference effects. ... (more) |
