In Search of: Funky silver rings or earrings

Congratulations to her!

Online, try the Offerings special collection line on shopnbc.com - new
agey and lots of carved bone and stone goddess items with unusual stones.
On the same site, Charles Winston also does some nice knockoffs in
sterling and colored czs or lab-created stones of the Bulgari/Cartier
look (pave flowers and critters wrapping around the sides of a large
center stone, ex: J108425 with a frog) that's popular in high end custom
jewelry now. Samuel B does a nice knockoff of the YG/silver David Yurman
look, kind of funky. Chuck Clemency has a silver line called NYC II but I
probably wouldn't call it funky. I think shopnbc also carries some Taxco
and other silver pieces.

QVC has some nice Balinese silver items, search for "Artisan Crafted"
silver. They also have Taxco pieces but I don't think they cary the
inventory they used to. Some really lovely silver pieces are from Robert
Lee Morris and some are funky/organic in design, worth a look.

I've purchased from both and imo, the quality depends on what you're
buying and what you're willing/able to spend, of course, but I haven't
made any qvc jewelry purchases for a couple years while I recently had to
put myself on a jewelry moratorium at shopnbc. I think that's because my
taste is evolving and not so much because of the workmanship or quality.
The prices are better on shopnbc and the looks are more high end/custom.
qvc's jewelry (unless it's from a well-known designer like RL Morris or
Judith Ripka, for example) is, imo, fairly generic-looking like you could
find it in Any Mall in Anycity, USA. Plus, most vendors on shopnbc offer
at least a 1 year *free* warranty for lost stones, repairs, sizing,
accidents, etc. Much better vendor situation at shopnbc than at qvc.

Yes, both take returns, but qvc is much more lenient about the 30-day
cutoff whereas shopnbc says 30 days and pretty much means it within a few
days. CS is much better with QVC, imo probably the best online/tv
shopping CS that's out there. I'm lucky in that the shopnbc outlet is
here in Mpls so I don;t hae to worry about the CS so much.

If you have any question about a line or a specific product you might
find in either place, please ask and I'll do my best to help! :)
