This set of beads made me drool......

Sooz -- according to many antique dealers that I have met here in Utah, you are
EXACTLY right. They all say that the internet has dropped antique prices all
across the board. Vince and I were at an antique mall today, and I was
astonished at the prices. Shoot you can buy almost anything for nothing there
now. I know when I can afford antiques, there is something wrong with the
market!

I only learned this since being in Utah, with Carol unloading some of her
antiques.

You know what part of it is? The markup on antiques has been 600% or
more for ever. You would sell your Grandma's sideboard, the dealer would
pay you $50 and sell it for $300. That's just the way it worked... until
pickers discovered they could sell the same sideboard on eBay for three
times what they were used to getting. Customers are all too happy to pay
that, since it's still half of what they're used to paying. I wouldn't
say there's anything "wrong"... it's just a different way of doing
business. One the dealers probably could have headed off, had they gone
for a more traditional 100-150% retail markup.
