I think this must be at least my fifth post to the group on the matter of
ankle bracelets. It seems a topic, as I said once before, which crops up
every Spring and is hashed out thoroughly thru early Summer and then we
all pack it away again with our bathing suits 'til the following Spring.
So - since I'm a dyed-in-the-wool ankle bracelet advocate, here's just a
few more thoughts on them.

First and foremost - I'm aware they have a faintly tainted reputation -
but I'm not exactly sure why. At least not in this day and age. Flip
through any fashion mag and have a close look at the filmy, see-through
clothes and the spike heeled shoes adorning the pages. And we're getting
prudish over a little piece of jewelry? Oh, please!

Secondly, I agree that ankle bracelets don't necessarily need to be gold
or silver - I have some made of shells and some of beads and even a few
made of silk cord - whatever strikes your fancy. This is a fun deal -
not important formal jewelry, y'know.

Finally, as with everything, there are those who mess the whole deal up
because they lack a sense of appropriateness. IMHO, ankle bracelets are
not meant to be worn at the office - they're leisure time items. Beach
stuff. Out-and-about stuff. On the town stuff. At my place of work,
where "casual chic" is the operative style, ankle bracelets look out of
place, even to me. One woman persists with wearing a gold one over (eek!)
sheer black hose, except when she wears one made of voodoo beads she
picked up on a visit to New Orleans recently. Yikes!!! Get a grip!!

So - that's it. They're fun - and that's the sum and substance of them.
Just the right place and the right time, please!

Cheers!

I think they look nice, and I've wanted to get one many times in the past,
but haven't because I know people think they're tacky! I know, what a
sheep I am. THe only way I hate them is when they're worn under nude
pantyhose. Ugh. COme to think of it, I've seen most ankle bracelets on
office workers, strangely enough. Under nude pantyhose. Just about
everyone here agreed that they're inappropriate in the office. When I'm
on campus, where there are many arts and crafts booths selling ankle
bracelets, I hardly ever see any wearers. *shrug*

But anyway, I'd like to wear one.

I agree with you totally about ankle bracelets! I bought mine recently,
and wear it mostly when I am not wearing hose. Great summer look, but I
agree, probly not for the office, unless the rule there is very casual.
