Cash Money/No Limit Question
message from akim on 22 Dec 2003
What I don't understand, is the whole Cash Money/No Limit clique so-called
"lifestyle".
These folks always show up on videos/CD covers with champagne, gold,
luxury cars, bitches, and stuff. Is it real...?
I mean - I never seen 'em on a concert, I never talked to anyone of them,
they do not seem to travel anywhere outside America. But - for me - the
**** about "private 'copters", and just usin' the money as a toilet paper,
is kinda funny. Those everywhere-shining-bling-bling pendants, Lexus cars
everywhere... Are they just doin' the fake ****, and pretend they got that
money, or do they have that paper for real...? Master P.'s surely a
millionaire, but damn, the other folks, like E-40, JT Tha Bigga Figga,
Mannie Fresh and so on...? How's that possible to get that paper on
hip-hop...?

*gasp*

you mean every rapper who says he's rich ISN'T REALLY RICH?

NOOOOOO! say it ain't so!!!!!

but on the real...E-40 owns his own publishing, his own label and does
well with every album he drops, and he's been doin it for 10+ years.
he's got stacks. same thing with Manine Fresh/Cash Money...any of
those labels that were selling tapes out their trunk and then got
picked up by majors have pretty sweet deals.

im willing to bet 75% of the hip hoppers involved in the game have outside
hustles, whether it be legal or illegal

Cash Money was able to finagle a $30 million deal out of Universal in the late
90s and then when that deal was a success, they were able to get an even better
deal shortly before the industry went to ****.

well yeah, but where in the world $30 million for a whole Cash Money
company allows folks to buy diamond pendants worth hundreds of thousands
dollars each?
seems i was right, they just pretend to be Bills Gateses of hip-hop.

they bought the label and back catalogue for $30 mil.

then they get royalties on top of that. so it's not a flat $30 mil,
it's much much more.

not to mention t-shirts, concert revenue, etc. them kids are paid.

And how much of it do you think actually sits in a bank? I would beg to venture
alot more of sits in their mouth, and around their necks and wrists than in the
bank.

Sir...

I thought this was a distribution deal, nothing more.

Then again, 30 mill. is a lotta money...

Sure it is, but definitely not enough to buy helluva pendants with
diamonds, a different luxury car for each day of week, a helicopter and
stuff on. they may be rich, but i really doubt if their lifestyle is the
same as the one presented in them songs/videos...

Yes at least as far as No Limit and Cash Money it is real.
Master P was on the top 40 richest people in America list in Forbes,
No Limit grossed $97 million in '97.

I've personally seen the Cash Money dudes a few different times in New
Orleans,
and they are also rich. All the cars etc. they have are real, the
house they have in the video is their real house. They got rich by
signing a great deal
with universal where they got paid millions up front and got to keep
their
masters.
