| message from Global Snooker Centre on 1999/07/18 |
Full group results from days 1-2 posted to alt.sport.pool and
rec.sport.billiard
Jimmy White is flying in the 9-ball pool. He has won all 3 matches
he's played so far, one a narrow 7-6, but the other two 7-1 on the tv
table.
Steve Davis has won two and lost one.
Tony Drago is playing crowd pleaser and enjoying himself.
Steve James hasn't seen much of the limelight, but has won a couple of
games.
Darren Morgan and Matthew Stevens haven't quite got the hang of 9-ball
and have lost all their matches.
Quienten Hann has won all but one of his games. He was 5-1 up today,
but hit the white off the table andended up losing 7-5.
Kirk Stevens was listed to appear, but hasn't, his place has been
taken by Alex Lewis, son of snooker referee Dan Lewis. Alex won his
first match.
Paul Hunter was scratched for late arrival, after he got stuck in
Cardiff traffic.

nice to see the snooker stars doing well; they usually get their asses
kicked in these tournaments
btw 9-ball is a great game - why isn't it played more in this part of the
world?

Do you mean scratched from the tournament or scratched for one or more
games?

Dumped out of the tournament. seemed a bit harsh cos normally you get
docked Frames (er racks!) or lose a match - as this was only the start
of 3 days round robin groups

For those interested to follow their snooker star heroes whilst 'playing
away' as it were, there is supposed to be coverage starting tomorrow at

Does anybody else find the commentary of Sid Waddell intensely
irritating ?
He has been commentating on pool for at least 3 years now and
still seems completely clueless. If I watch with the sound turned
down I miss the more enlightening commentary of his American
co-presenter. However, I see they are breaking Steve Davis into
the job, and he is quite .... interesting

Out of curiousity, who is the American co-presenter?
Gideon (in Toronto)
