HI guys,
well having almost conquered this damned flu I managed to get a day off
from work and do a bit of post Christmas shopping and what did I find
the first of the New 2000 AM figures.
There were three of them Save the Tiger, Extreme Skateboarder and
Blowpipe figure.
Save the Tiger is not the same as the Joe set as it is a carded figure
with far less accessories than the Joe set. What you get is what appears
to be the highly articulated AM body with another new head sculpt
complete with moulded bandana. Olive green sleeveless T shirt with
silver claw mark emblem on chest, shorts and short brown boots the
enormous saw-backed diving knife (more machete sized) that came with the
bubble blowing diver figure. Finally you get the tiger which as far as I
could tell through the packaging in a normal coloured (i.e. Orange &
black) version of Joes White Tiger.
Extreme Snow boarder has the usual gaudy Extreme clothing I recall the
jacket is red and trousers black and large chunky black boots that lock
into bindings on the all terrain Skateboard. He also has one of the
typically Extreme helmet and visor arrangements that is kinda a cage
around the head rather than a helmet per se. His Skateboard has four
large cross country wheels and a disc firing device at the front. I do
not recall seeing a weapon on this figure. Since the figure is entirely
dressed I was unable to ascertain his level of articulation but I would
assume that it will be highly articulated.
The Blowpipe figure is one of the now favoured moulded on accessory
types which seem to be in vogue with the AM design team. Dressed in
either dirty or camo torn shorts and with arcane symbols drawn over his
arms and torso in green paint also has the bandana head sculpt and has a
blowpipe moulded into his right hand. His right arm is permanently
moulded in right angle and there are three plastic bamboo "darts" which
can slip over the end of the blowpipe. In his back is a fold out blow
nozzle which allows you to blow through it hence ejecting the "darts"
from the blowpipe. He also has a moulded plastic belt and quiver for the
"darts"
All three items were apparently new stock as I was unable to find any
shelf price tags and I didn't think I would be welcome at the counter
with an armful of items for a price check.
However some other interesting items were pictured in the diorama
pictures on the back of the packaging including;
A new Doctor X with a moulded Mohican and a much larger Cybernetic Arm
which now reaches up to his shoulder has cables disappearing into his
pectoral muscles. I was unable to ascertain from the picture what if
anything this X special feature is or what weapon he uses.
Also picture was a nice if compact looking ATV type six wheeler in Red.
Also lying around as background accessories was a nice looking large
pistol and knife no indication what figures they come with or if they
are part of an accessory set. The pistol looks a little like it might be
a shotgun or a large tranquiliser pistol. Anyway it looked Cool and I
hope it and the ATV make it onto the market.
