Does anyone out there have much experience with the Helix darts.
I was throwing a set about a month ago and liked them. My other
problem is that nobody here in Austin takes darts seriously and
thus I can't find the Helix anywhere. Anybody have any mail-order
sources/catalogs that might be able to help me out...

You might try Ricks Darts in Houston or Lone Star Darts in Dallas. Both are
good stores with an excellent selection. Here in Austin I beleive the best
place is The Gas Pipe. I still have my set's so I haven't had the need to look
for a set here.

Helix has a new Jim Watkins signature model that looks slick... but a
little light in the front end for me. They also boast a convertable
steel/soft model (for those who consider soft-tip really playing
darts).
The only ad in the BEN (Bull's Eye News) that specifically advertises
Helix is:
VOKS M & D Inc.
7487 Tyler Boulevard
Mentor, Ohio, USA 44060

As a dart player of both soft tip and steel I consider both to
have their advantages and disadvantages. But I find irksome the
implication that soft tip darts "... are not real darts." Can
sombody show me a dictionary that defines soft tip darts as
something other than darts

I wonder if it would be in the same dictionary that says that wiffle ball
isn't real baseball. Soft tip darts, like wiffle ball is just a way for
the lesser skilled players to enjoy the game without hurting themselves
and without having to work too hard developing the skills required for the
real game.
