| Those Italian Charm Bracelets |
| message from Amberinauburn on 19 Sep 2004 |
Have you seen those new Italian charm bracelets? They even sell them at
Hallmark in my mall. At the online sites I have visited, they have hundreds if
not thousands of charms, everything from birthstones to sports teams and NASCAR
racing. Does anyone have any good or bad things to say about these, I have seen
charms from $1.25 at the Icing to over $35.00 at the Piecing Pagoda?
Amber in central Illinois
I didn't mean to imply that I owned a mall, I work at a mall.

A good friend of mine who lives out of state ordered one online at a website
and absolutely loves it. Says it's held up well, has not broken or lost it's
"luster", none of the charms have popped off, everything arrived shipped to
her home in a short period of time, etc. I will try to get the website link
from her if you want it. She sent me the link a few months ago to the
website, but my computer crashed recently, I lost a bunch of my old email,
and I'll have to email her again.
I will email and ask her if you want me to, though.

They come in different forms, don't they?
Steel and Sterling... I think.
I haven't seen many ppl wearing them in the NYC area.
They are a cute idea.

I believe charm bracelets were mentioned in Vogue as one of the new
trends so I'm sure more people will start using them now.

I have had one for over a year now. Got it on ebay for $10.00 and
absolutely love it! I have a charm for my daughter (bunny), son
(tank), son-in-law (firefighter's helmet) grandson (frog and an autism
awareness ribbon), my hockey team, my husband (NSDQ his army unit's
motto) an Army seal for my hubby and son and one of the Golden Gate
bridge.
So yea, get one and enjoy.

I have students absolutely obsessed with them. Considering how low
priced some of the charms are ($0.99 on Ebay) they aren't bad at all.
I think they are nice because the charms aren't usually dangly so they
won't get caught places.

How are these different from regular charm bracelets?
Just curious. I still have a charm bracelet from childhood - it's
filled with charms from all the states we visited while I was a kid. My
girls were helping me clean out my jewelry box the other day and both
of them wanted to borrow it. But it needs major cleaning. It's silver
and very, very tarnished.

The cheaper charms don't seem to hold up as well as more expensive
ones in my own experience.
I like my bracelet and need to get more charms.

I've had mine for about a year and a half now. I love it. I buy most of my
charms on e-bay. Right now, I have an autism awareness ribbon, a Navy Wife
charm, a US Navy charm, a lady bug for one of my daughters, and an I love
Paintball charm. I've never paid more than $10 for a charm. The only one
of my charms that every broke was a birthstone charm where the stone was
glued to the charm.
