It depends on how much $$ you want to invest and what type charms you are planning on getting for her. My charm bracelet is gold, but it was a gift for my college graduation. (I really wanted a silver one.) The gold charms are expensive for the most part. Some, like a gold graduation charm with the date run around $15-$25 and can be found in almost all department stores that sell fine jewelry. Because back in the days when I was using a manual typewriter, I broke a number of bracelets when they got tangled in the keys. Because when I switched to a computer, I found my heavier bracelets added extra letters I didn't want. My almost 11 yo daughter is begging for a gold charm bracelet just like moms. Mom (that's me) has had her bracelet since she was around 8, and she is NOT giving it to DD. Have you seen those new Italian charm bracelets? They even sell them at Hallmark in my mall. At the online sites I have visited, they have hundreds if not thousands of charms, everything from birthstones to sports teams and NASCAR racing.
